Delhi-Meerut RRTS (NaMo Bharat)

Project overview

This 82.15 km high-speed regional rail line (NaMo Bharat) became fully operational in India on 22 February 2026. It comprises 16 stations and 180 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is delivering the project, with Alstom (rolling stock + signalling), L&T and Afcons as main contractors. Priority corridor (Sahibabad-Duhai, 17km) opened 20 October 2023, with progressive extensions through 2024-2025 and full Sarai Kale Khan-Modipuram completion in Feb 2026. Investment INR 30,274 crore (~USD 3.1 bn).
