Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC)

Project overview

This 1337 km freight rail line entered service in India. It comprises 100 km/h design speed. The line uses 2×25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, national ATC signalling and 1676 mm Iberian broad gauge. Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) is delivering the project, with Tata Projects, L&T and GMR Group as main contractors. It opened in 2024, with an investment of INR 815.0 bn (~USD 9.8 bn).
