Chennai Metro Phase 2

Project overview

This 118 km metro line is under construction in India. It comprises 128 stations. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, CBTC signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is delivering the project, with L&T, Afcons and J. Kumar Infraprojects as main contractors. Under construction since 2021, the line is scheduled to open in 2028, with an investment of INR 634.2 bn (~USD 7.6 bn).
