Canberra Light Rail Stage 2A (City to Commonwealth Park)

Project overview

This 1.7 km light rail line (Stage 2A: City to Commonwealth Park) is under construction in Australia. It comprises 3 stations. The line uses 750 V DC overhead electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. Major Projects Canberra (ACT Government) is delivering the project, with Canberra Metro consortium (CPB Contractors, UGL, Pacific Partnerships - CIMIC Group) as main contractor. Trackwork construction commenced February 2025 (a separate AUD1.5bn/~USD978m contract); expected operational in early 2028. (Stage 1, Gungahlin-City, opened in 2019 - a separate, already-operational project.)
