Project overview

This rail upgrade is under construction in Australia. The line uses 1600 mm Iberian gauge. Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) and Rail Projects Victoria are delivering the project, with Southern Program Alliance (Acciona, Coleman Rail, WSP, Metro Trains Melbourne), Western Program Alliance (John Holland, KBR, Arup, Metro Trains) and Northern Program Alliance (Laing O'Rourke, Fulton Hogan, MTM, Jacobs) as main contractors. Under construction since 2015, the line is scheduled to open in 2030, with an investment of AUD 18.0 bn (~USD 12.1 bn).
