Adelaide Gawler Line Electrification

Project overview

This 42 km electrification programme upgrades the existing Australia corridor to 25 kV AC 50 Hz. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification and 1600 mm Iberian gauge. Department for Infrastructure and Transport (South Australia) are delivering the project, with Lendlease (later transferred to Acciona) as main contractor. It opened in 2022, with an investment of AUD 715 m (~USD 510 m).
