    Scope

Specifies acceptance and type-approval criteria for wheel slide protection (WSP) systems — the anti-skid electronics that modulate brake effort at the adhesion limit — plus requirements for wheel rotation monitoring, and the design, testing and quality assessment of WSP components and their vehicle-specific implementation.

Wheel slide protection is where braking meets the physics of low adhesion, and EN 15595 is its complete qualification regime: laboratory test-bench programmes with defined adhesion scenarios, on-vehicle validation, performance criteria (air consumption, distance extension, axle protection) and the integration requirements for specific vehicle applications and operating conditions. Note the OJ citation: presumption of conformity currently attaches to the 2009+A1 edition, while the state of the art — and current type tests — follow 2018+A1:2023, a gap practitioners must handle explicitly in conformity files. Used by brake-system suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, test laboratories and NoBos; it interlocks with EN 14531 calculations and the TSI LOC&PAS braking clauses.
