Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 (Bến Thành – Suối Tiên)

Project overview

This 19.7 km metro line entered commercial service in Ho Chi Minh City on 22 December 2024. It comprises 14 stations (3 underground) and 110 km/h design speed. The line uses 1.5 kV DC overhead electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Authority (MAUR) delivered the project with NJPT Consortium (Sumitomo + Hitachi) and CAF (signalling); final investment was VND 43.7 trillion (approx. USD 1.7 bn), below the original ~USD2.5bn ODA loan ceiling.
