Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line Phase 1 (Mile 2 – Iddo)

Project overview

This 13 km metro line entered service in Nigeria, running from Mile 2 to Iddo/National Theatre (the further extension to Marina opened in a later phase, not part of this Phase 1 opening). It comprises 5 stations and 100 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is delivering the project, with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) as main contractor. It opened in 2023, with an investment of USD 1.2 bn.
