Scope
Defines the routine test programme (static and dynamic) that a rolling-stock manufacturer or integrator must complete on a new or substantially modified vehicle before it is placed into service, covering functional, safety and performance verification at project completion. It formally supersedes the withdrawn EN 50215 (Testing of rolling stock after construction and before entry into service, now searched for under that designation), consolidating the same need under a joint CENELEC/IEC document, and is the standard type-test reference cited in vehicle acceptance and homologation dossiers.
