    Scope

Defines the laboratory tests and approval procedure for aluminothermic (thermite) welding processes used to join new Vignole rails of the same profile and steel grade in track. This entry anchors on Part 1 (approval of welding processes); Part 2 of the series separately governs welder qualification, contractor approval and in-track weld acceptance. It is the reference standard used by infrastructure managers and track-renewal contractors for rail-welding quality assurance.
