Project overview

This 220 km high-speed line linking Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports has NOT begun physical construction: the private concessionaire (Asia Era One / CP Group) formally requested termination of the THB224.5bn contract on 9 July 2026, confirmed by the State Railway of Thailand board, after an 8-year deadlock over land handover, Covid-relief terms and contract amendments. An EEC Policy Committee ruling on mutual termination is expected August 2026; officials are discussing a conventional-rail alternative. No new opening target exists pending this outcome.
