Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) Phase 1

Project overview

This 33.1 km metro line is under construction in Philippines. It comprises 17 stations. The line uses 1.5 kV DC overhead electrification, CBTC signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Department of Transportation Philippines (DOTr) is delivering the project, with Tokyu-Tobishima-Megawide JV (CP104), Shimizu-Fujita-EEI JV and Nippon Sharyo (rolling stock) as main contractors. The line is scheduled to open in 2032, with an investment of approximately USD 7.06 bn (PHP 355.6 bn), funded via multiple JICA loan tranches plus ADB support.
