Project overview
This signalling upgrade covers 58 km of track in Sri Lanka, deploying ERTMS Level 1. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 1 signalling and 1676 mm Iberian broad gauge. Sri Lanka Railways is delivering the project, with Larsen & Toubro and Hyundai Rotem as main contractors. Under construction since 2020, the line is scheduled to open in 2027, with an investment of USD 160 m.
