    Project overview

    This 532 km rail line (158 km in China, 305 km in Kyrgyzstan, 69 km in Uzbekistan) is under construction, ceremonially launched 27 December 2024. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. Government of Kyrgyzstan and Kyrgyz Temir Joly (KTJ); JV with China Railway and UTY are delivering the project, with China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) and China Railway Group (CREC) as main contractors. Target completion is 2029-2030, with an investment of USD 4.7 bn.
