Pontremolese Line Upgrade (Parma–La Spezia)

Project overview

Modernizing the axis between Parma and La Spezia, this €5.8 billion project involves phased track doubling and the construction of a new base tunnel. RFI is leading the upgrade to increase freight capacity from the port of La Spezia while eliminating urban rail interference in Parma. The first functional phase includes 8 km of new alignment designed for operational speeds of 140 km/h.
