Turin–Lyon Base Tunnel (Mont Cenis / Mont d'Ambin)

Project overview

This 57.5 km base tunnel connects Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in France to Susa in Italy to facilitate sustainable freight and passenger transit across the Alps. Managed by TELT, the project aims to remove one million trucks from alpine roads annually, significantly reducing carbon emissions. Functional Lot 2 alone involves 25 km of tunnel excavation using advanced tunnel boring machines and traditional excavation methods.
