Project overview
Stretching 55 km beneath the Alps, this monumental rail tunnel will become one of the world's longest underground connections between Italy and Austria. BBT SE is developing the €10.5 billion project, which utilizes ERTMS Level 2 technology to support high-speed passenger trains at 250 km/h and heavy freight by 2032. The system includes two main tubes and a unique exploratory service tunnel designed to optimize maintenance and water drainage.
