    Second S-Bahn trunk line spanning 11 km in Munich between Laim and Leuchtenbergring, relieving the overburdened original rail axis. Core feature is a 7 km tunnel running 40 metres deep with three new underground stations.

    • Herrenknecht AGtunnelling · Supplier of all 6 TBMs for the project. First TBM (exploration/rescue tunnel) ordered Mar 2025, manufactured at Schwanau. Main tunnel TBMs from 2028.
    • DB InfraGO AGclient_employer · Infrastructure owner. Co-financed by Bund + Freistaat Bayern + City of Munich. Cost: up to €9.5B (Apr 2025 estimate). Completion: 2035-2037.
