Tren Alameda–Melipilla (EFE Tren Metropolitano)

Project overview

This 61 km commuter rail line is under construction in Chile. It comprises 11 stations and 140 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification and 1676 mm Indian broad gauge. EFE and Trenes Metropolitanos are delivering the project, with Sacyr (Melipilla–Malloco USD 345m), Dragados–Besalco (Malloco–Lo Errázuriz USD 468m) and CRIG depot as main contractors. Under construction since 2024, the line is scheduled to open in 2030, with an investment of USD 1.9 bn.
