Bangkok Purple Line South Extension (Tao Poon – Rat Burana)

Project overview

This 23.6 km metro line is under construction in Thailand. It comprises 17 stations and 14.3 km of tunnels. The line uses 750 V DC third rail electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is delivering the project. Under construction since 2022; a September 2025 sinkhole near Vajira Hospital suspended works and pushed the schedule back, with only the Parliament House-National Library section still targeted for 2027 and full completion now expected in 2030.
