Project overview

This 26 km light rail line runs from Port Louis to Curepipe in Mauritius. It comprises 19 stations. The line uses 750 V DC overhead electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. Metro Express Ltd is delivering the project, with Larsen & Toubro as main EPC contractor. Built in phases - Phase 1 (Port Louis-Rose Hill) opened 2019/2020, Phase 2A (Rose Hill-Quatre Bornes) in 2021 - the full line to Curepipe entered service in October 2022 (Phase 2B), with a total investment of USD 600 m.
