Project overview
This 120 km rail upgrade entered service in Kenya. It comprises 12 stations, 4.5 km of tunnels and 80 km/h design speed. The line uses diesel traction and 1435 mm standard gauge. Kenya Railways Corporation is delivering the project, with China Road and Bridge Corporation as main contractor. It opened in 2019, with an investment of USD 1.5 bn.
