Tunisia: Transtu Awards CRRC EUR90m Contract for 18 EMUs on Tunis TGM Line

Tunis Transport Company (Transtu) signed a contract on 10 July 2026 with CRRC Nanjing Puzhen for the supply of 18 electric multiple units for the Tunis-La Goulette-La Marsa (TGM) northern suburban line, according to Ecofin Agency and Railway Gazette International.

The EUR90 million contract is financed by a EUR45 million EU-guaranteed loan from the European Investment Bank and a further EUR45 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The deal includes five years of maintenance, spare parts and depot equipment.

The new EMUs will be 40 metres long with capacity for 400 passengers, including 90 seated, and a maximum speed of 100 km/h, fitted with air-conditioning, CCTV, a passenger information system and spaces for passengers with reduced mobility. The first trainset is due for delivery within two years of signing.
