Chile: OHLA Wins EUR144.3m Santiago Metro Line 9 Tunnelling Contract, Passes EUR700m in Cumulative Network Work

OHLA said on 27 July 2026 it has been awarded a EUR144.3 million contract to build shafts, galleries and tunnels for subsections 1C and 1D of Tranche 1 of Santiago Metro's future Line 9, covering 7.6 km of underground infrastructure, according to the company's statement carried by Spanish outlet Corresponsables.

OHLA described the award as the largest single contract it has secured in the history of the Santiago Metro system. Combined with a contract worth more than EUR70 million won in June 2026 for six new stations on Line 7, the award brings OHLA to 12 interventions on the Santiago Metro network, with cumulative investment now exceeding EUR700 million.

OHLA has operated in Chile since 1984 and has previously worked on Metro Santiago Lines 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7, including stations such as Plaza Egana, Dorsal, Gruta de Lourdes and Blanqueado. The company is separately building the Tunel Lo Ruiz in Santiago. No project completion date was given for the Line 9 works.
