Brightline's First Space Coast Station Secures $57.5M Federal Grant

The Federal Railroad Administration has awarded $57.5 million to bring Brightline's first stop in Brevard County, Florida, to life — a station in Cocoa that will give the Space Coast a stop on the high-speed line connecting Miami and Orlando.

The grant, issued under the FRA's National Railroad Partnership Program, funds final design and construction of a new multimodal station on a site south of State Road 528, near the junction of US-1 and Clearlake Road. It also covers on-site parking and circulation, plus roughly four miles of new double track along the Florida East Coast Railway corridor near the Cocoa Curve.

The award, made jointly to the City of Cocoa and the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization, is described locally as the largest federal transportation investment in the region's modern history. It follows a decade in which Brightline's trains passed through Brevard County without stopping.

The station is expected to serve both Space Coast commuters and cruise passengers travelling to and from Port Canaveral, one of the world's busiest cruise ports. Design and construction timelines have not yet been finalized.
