Île-de-France Mobilités Orders 15 CAF Tram-Trains for Paris T13 Extension
Île-de-France Mobilités, the transport authority for the greater Paris region, has awarded Spanish manufacturer CAF a contract worth more than €150 million to supply 15 tram-trains for route T13, the authority announced on August 26. The order includes spare parts and holds options for additional vehicles.
The new rolling stock, based on CAF's URBOS tram platform, will comprise seven-module articulated units measuring 42 metres long and 2.65 metres wide, each carrying 86 seated and 170 standing passengers. Roughly 75% of each vehicle's floor area will be low-floor, improving accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.
The trains will support the planned extension of T13 to Achères and are intended to allow the line to run every 10 minutes at peak times, up from its current frequency. The upgrade is also meant to improve connections with RER A, RER E, and Transilien Line L services at interchange stations along the route.
T13 opened in 2022 as one of the newest tram-train lines in the Paris region, linking Saint-Cyr-l'École and Saint-Germain-en-Laye. The order is CAF's first tram-train contract with Île-de-France Mobilités, adding to a rolling stock portfolio that already includes trams for several French cities.
Delivery timelines for the new fleet have not yet been disclosed.
