NRIC Bulgaria Plovdiv–Burgas Railway Rehabilitation Phase 2 is a rail upgrade project in Bulgaria, currently under construction.
This 140 km rail upgrade is under construction in Bulgaria. It comprises 160 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 1 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. NRIC (National Railway Infrastructure Company), Bulgaria is delivering the project, with GCF (Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie), SK 13 and Trace Group as main contractors. Under construction since 2021, the line is scheduled to open in 2026, with an investment of EUR 414 m (~USD 455 m).
Construction began in 2021, with completion expected in 2026.
