Sofia Metro Line M3 West Extension (Zhitnitsa – Ovcha Kupel)

Project overview

This 3.8 km metro line entered service in Bulgaria. It comprises 4 stations and 80 km/h design speed. The line uses 1.5 kV DC overhead electrification, CBTC signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Metropolitan EAD Sofia is delivering the project, with Trace Group as main contractor. It opened in 2021, with an investment of EUR 102 m (~USD 112 m).
