    Project overview

    This 1700 km freight rail line entered service in Australia. The line uses diesel traction, national ATC signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Rio Tinto is delivering the project, with Hitachi Rail (formerly Ansaldo STS — AutoHaul technology integrator) as main contractor. It opened in 2019, with an investment of AUD 1.4 bn (~USD 940 m).
