This new station forms part of the METRONET Lakelands programme in Australia. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification and 1067 mm Cape gauge. Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA) is delivering the project. It opened in 2023, with an investment of AUD 72 m (~USD 47 m).

Construction began in 2021 and the project opened in 2023.
