    Norfolk Southern appoints DeShazor VP of intermodal and automotive operations

    Norfolk Southern Corporation announced on 13 July 2026 that it has named Will DeShazor vice president of intermodal and automotive operations. DeShazor reports to the chief operating officer in the new role. According to Norfolk Southern's news release, DeShazor reports to Chief Operating Officer Brian Barr.

    DeShazor is a 21-year Norfolk Southern operations leader with broad experience across the railroad. In his new role, he will oversee intermodal and automotive operations for the Atlanta-based Class I freight carrier. According to Norfolk Southern's release, DeShazor will support safe, reliable service for customers and help strengthen the company's network performance in this role. According to Norfolk Southern, its network serves the eastern United States with connections to every major container port in the East, and to major industrial centers and agricultural regions.

    DeShazor's two-decade tenure with the railroad spans multiple operational disciplines, positioning him to manage the combined intermodal and automotive portfolio. According to Railway Age, DeShazor previously served as Assistant Vice President Network Optimization, leading teams responsible for network planning, commercial opportunity reviews, terminal standards, capacity modeling, and capital planning.
