Alstom Wins €1.03bn Contract for 153 Adessia Stream Trains in Portugal

France's Alstom has secured a €1.03bn contract with Comboios de Portugal (CP) to supply 153 Adessia Stream trains, with 81 units to be manufactured in Portugal. The deal, signed 10 March 2026, represents the largest train acquisition ever in Portugal.

The domestic manufacturing commitment strengthens Alstom's industrial footprint in Portugal and establishes a local rail supply ecosystem. Producing 81 of the 153 trainsets domestically will support Portuguese manufacturing capacity and rail industry development. CP operates Portugal's national passenger rail network.

The Adessia Stream is Alstom's regional and commuter platform. The 153-unit fleet will serve CP's passenger operations across Portugal. Alstom will establish a manufacturing facility in Portugal to fulfill the domestic production requirement for 81 trainsets. The remaining 72 trains will be manufactured at other Alstom facilities.

The €1.03bn contract value covers design, manufacturing and delivery of the complete fleet. CP's order follows Portugal's strategy to renew its passenger rolling stock with modern equipment. The Adessia Stream platform offers flexible configurations for regional and suburban services.
