Budapest–Belgrade Railway (Hungarian Section) is a rail upgrade project in Hungary, currently operational.
This 152 km rail upgrade entered service in Hungary. It comprises 200 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. NIF Zrt. (National Infrastructure Development) is delivering the project, with CRE Consortium: China Tiejiuju Engineering & Construction, China Railway Electrification Engineering Group, RM International (Opus Global) as main contractor. It opened in 2026, with an investment of USD 2.1 bn.
Construction began in 2021 and the project opened in 2026.
