Alstom exceeds €700m procurement in Spain, supports over 7,500 jobs

Alstom announced on 14 July 2026 that its purchases from Spanish suppliers reached a record €700.89 million in fiscal year 2025-2026, up 32% on the previous year and spread across 746 suppliers, reinforcing its industrial footprint in the country. The figure underscores the rolling-stock manufacturer's deepening supply-chain ties across the Spanish rail sector.

In the previous fiscal year, 2024/25, an impact study by EY commissioned by Alstom put the company's contribution at €400 million to Spain's GDP with 7,316 jobs supported (2,917 of them direct), on purchases of €532 million from 927 suppliers; in its latest release the company estimates that total employment impact has grown to more than 7,500 jobs. The economic impact spans direct employment and the company's network of local suppliers.

Spain hosts several Alstom production sites, including facilities for traction systems, signalling equipment and rolling-stock assembly.

The €700 million figure covers purchases from Spanish suppliers across multiple product lines and projects during fiscal year 2025-2026 (April to March), with Alstom highlighting industrial sites across multiple regions including Barcelona, Bizkaia, and Madrid.

The company's Spanish operations serve both domestic operators and export markets, with recent contracts including commuter trains for Renfe and metro rolling stock for Barcelona. The procurement data suggests that a significant share of value creation for those contracts remains within Spain's industrial base.
