VAG Nürnberg, founded in 1959 and headquartered in Nuremberg, is the public-law operator of the Nuremberg U-Bahn, tram, and city bus networks, owned via Stadtwerke Nürnberg by the City of Nuremberg. With around 2,300 employees, it runs the world's first fully-driverless commercial heavy metro line (U2 since 2008, U3 since 2010), with the U1 currently being converted to automatic operation.
