Schweizerische Südostbahn, founded in 1889 and headquartered in St. Gallen, is the partly-public Swiss regional rail operator running the Voralpen Express St. Gallen–Lucerne, the Aare Linth, the Alpenrhein Express, and the rack-railway Treno Gottardo Locarno service. Owned by a mix of the Swiss Confederation, cantons, and private shareholders, it employs around 1,000 people across one of the largest non-SBB Swiss operators.
