Metrorex, founded in 1991 from the corporatisation of Întreprinderea Metroul București and headquartered in Bucharest, is the wholly state-owned operator of the Bucharest Metro with around 4,880 employees. Operating four lines across the capital, it is currently completing the M2 South extension and the M6 Henri Coandă Airport link with EU and IFI co-financing.
