Euskotren, founded in 1982 and headquartered in Bilbao, is the wholly Basque-Government-owned metric-gauge rail operator running regional rail in Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, the Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz tram systems, an urban funicular, bus services, and the EuskoKargo freight business. It carried roughly 54 million trips in 2024 and is the principal Basque public-transport operator alongside the Basque Government's ETS infrastructure manager.
