Project overview
This rail upgrade is under construction in New Zealand. The line uses dual-system electrification and 1067 mm Cape gauge. KiwiRail and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi are delivering the project. Under construction since 2021, the line is scheduled to open in 2031, with an investment of NZD 1.4 bn (~USD 840 m).
