This 660 km high-speed line is being commissioned in Egypt. It comprises 250 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) is delivering the project, with Siemens Mobility, Orascom Construction and Arab Contractors as main contractors. Investment is USD 4.5 bn.
Construction began in 2021, with completion expected in 2026.
