MÁV-START, founded in 2006 as the passenger rail subsidiary of MÁV Group and headquartered in Budapest, is the wholly state-owned Hungarian national passenger rail operator running intercity, regional, and suburban services. With HUF 146 billion (~USD 406M) in FY2023 revenue, it was merged with Volánbusz and MÁV-HÉV on 1 January 2025 into MÁV Személyszállítási Zrt., the new unified Hungarian state public-transport operator.
