Project overview
This 580 km freight rail line is under construction in South Africa. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1067 mm Cape gauge. Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is delivering the project, with Transnet (in-house) and Hitachi Rail STS as main contractors. Investment is ZAR 47.0 bn (~USD 2.6 bn).
