PRASA Cape Town Metrorail Central Line Restoration

Project overview

This 63 km commuter rail line is under construction in South Africa. The line uses 3 kV DC overhead electrification and 1067 mm Cape gauge. Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) is delivering the project. Under construction since 2022, the line is scheduled to open in 2026, with an investment of ZAR 3.5 bn (~USD 195 m).
