This 77 km electrification programme upgrades the existing United States corridor to 25 kV AC 60 Hz. The line uses 25 kV AC 60 Hz electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain) is delivering the project, with Balfour Beatty (electrification civil) and Stadler Rail (EMU $551m, Salt Lake City) as main contractors. It opened in 2024, with an investment of USD 2.4 bn.

Construction began in 2017 and the project opened in 2024.
