Project overview
This 165 km rail upgrade is under construction in Tanzania. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 1 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Tanzania Railways Corporation is delivering the project, with Yapı Merkezi and Çengiz İnşaat as main contractors. Under construction since 2022, the line is scheduled to open in 2026, with an investment of USD 900 m.
