Project overview
This 300 km rail upgrade entered service in Tanzania. It comprises 160 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 1 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Tanzania Railways Corporation is delivering the project, with Yapı Merkezi and Çengiz İnşaat as main contractors. It opened in 2024, with an investment of USD 1.9 bn.
