Project overview
This 450 km high-speed line entered service in Saudi Arabia. It comprises 5 stations and 320 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 60 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) is delivering the project, with Al-Shoula Consortium (Renfe, Adif, Talgo, OHL, Cobra, Copasa, Inabensa) as main contractor. It opened in 2018, with an investment of SAR 60.0 bn (~USD 16.0 bn).
