The line uses 1.5 kV DC overhead electrification, CBTC signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Cluj-Napoca Municipality is delivering the project, with Gulermak, Alstom and Arcada Company as main contractors. Under construction since 2023, the line is scheduled to open in 2031, with an investment of EUR 2.7 bn (~USD 3.0 bn).
