This 45 km rail upgrade is in procurement in Romania. It comprises 160 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. CFR SA is delivering the project, with Alstom and FCC Construction as main contractors. Target opening is 2030, with an investment of EUR 449 m (~USD 494 m).
Construction began in 2026, with completion expected in 2030.
The project has an estimated investment of €449M.
